Allium cernuum, also known as the Nodding Onion or Nodding Wild Onion, is a perennial plant native to North America. It's known for its unique drooping or "nodding" flower umbels, which sport delicate, bell-shaped pink or white blossoms. Rising to heights of 1 to 2 feet, the plant thrives in various habitats from dry prairies to moist woodlands. The slender, grass-like leaves provide an elegant backdrop for the pendulous flowers that bloom in mid to late summer. Apart from its ornamental appeal, this onion is also edible, with both its bulbs and leaves offering a mild, oniony flavor.
